PART 1 - Assembling a practice kit.
1. Put on your safety glasses.
2. Obtain a soldering skill level 1 kit from your instructor.
3. Ask your instructor to demonstrate proper circuit board mounting and soldering techniques.
4. Mount all the components on the board and solder the connections using a soldering iron.
5. Show your work to your instructor for sign off.
PART 2 - Desoldering.
1. Ask your instructor to demonstrate the use of solder wicking to remove components from the board.
2. Demonstrate the use of solder wicking by removing two components from the practice board.
3. Ask your instructor to demonstrate the use of the solder vacuum bulb to remove solder.
4. Remove one component from the practice board using the solder vacuum bulb.
5. Show your work to your instructor for sign off.
PART 3 - Grading and Evaluation.
1. Using a permanent marker, print your name on the kit circuit board.
2. Fill out this lab sheet. Include your name.
3. Turn in this lab sheet with the kit attached. The instructor will evaluate the kit and return it to you.
Your kit will be examined per the following checklist. Each item will be given a score by your instructor. A total score of 70 points or greater will be required. A score below 70 points means you will have to rework your kit.
